Hi Reader,

There was a point where I genuinely believed I was disciplined.

Not in a vague sense. In a way that felt measurable.

My calendar was full. My days were structured. I could move through long stretches of work without stopping, without questioning it, without really needing a break.

And I took that as a good sign.

It meant I was committed. It meant I was doing it right.

At least, that’s how I understood it at the time.

What I didn’t notice, or maybe didn’t want to look at too closely, was what it actually felt like underneath all of that.

Not dramatic. Not falling apart.

Just a kind of low, persistent disconnection I didn’t have language for yet.

Things were working. That’s what made it harder to question.

There was enough momentum to justify the pace. Enough validation to keep going. Enough structure to make it all look intentional.

But something in it wasn’t fully mine.

And it took me longer than I expected to realize that what I was calling discipline wasn’t really clarity.

It was something else.

I wrote about that more honestly here:

I also spoke about it more in my most recent Signal episode. It’s less structured. More like a conversation I probably should have had with myself sooner.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything right… and something still isn’t sitting well, you’ll probably recognize it.

Author your truth.
